Lourdas - resort guide and tourist information

Lourdas Resort description

Lourdas Resort Photo

Lourdas is off the main road to Argostoli. A steep winding road meanders it’s way down from Vlachata through Lourdas and the small village of Lourdata until you get to the beach, part shingle part sand.
Lourdas although a small resort packs in quite a lot with numerous studios, houses, villas and hotels which are all full in the peak summer months. Some apartments are situated on the beach overlooking the ever-changing turquoise blue clear water. These tend to be more expensive but well worth it if you like the sound of the sea lapping against the shore.

The rest of Lourdas is made up of over twenty good restaurants a couple of open all hours’ mini markets, car/bike rental shops and a couple of lively music bars with plenty of outdoors seating such as Astra music bar, Muses etc.
Things here are pretty laid back and after the long stroll down the hill to the beach passing through the village of Lourdata you’ll need to put your feet up and rest!
Lourdata consists of few restaurants all offering good quality food at reasonably priced. There’s a small mini market a couple of cafes and bars.
Lourdas beach is very popular with plenty of room for everyone. Along the top of the beach set back are a few tavernas and restaurants. Catering for lunchtime snacks or evening meals.

Kohenoor Indian Restaurant
Not all dishes are exactly as they are in England. But all are genuine Indian dishes, cooked by real Indian cooks, in a real Tandoori oven.

More information on Lourdas
For what many would argue is the very best fresh seafood on Kefalonia try Lithero restaurant. Turn right as you get into the village opposite Alexis' restaurant next to a large tree by a supermarket and go down the dirt track to the bottom. They catch the fish locally and charcoal grill to get their succulent taste and flavour. It's also very picturesque overlooking the bay and its small harbour; the restaurant itself is shaded out of the sun. Perfect for lunch or evening meal.
From lourdas beach you can walk along to Lithero beach then around some rocks to Trapezaki all quality beaches and loads of space, there are also sun beds and umbrellas for rent. On the quieter beaches people do go naked.

Lourdas the Good
Quiet community feel about the place, good restaurants, tavernas, good views and superb beaches. In places you can wade out for ages and it’s still only up to the waist! Good fun for all the family and a great place for a spot of late night skinny-dipping!

Lourdas the Bad
The giant hill that is both a pleasant stroll down and an absolute killer on the way back up! Not suitable for the elderly or infirm, to be honest without hired transport the walk is challenging for the fittest of people when made everyday.
