| Theotokas Monastery a brief description |
| The virgin of Atros monastery is the oldest on the Island and dates from the 8th Century. This magnificent building is well worth the trip and ideal for a romantic walk. The sunrise is spectacular from here. The Monastery is just over 500metres above sea level, the first documented reference dates from 1248. Theotokas means god's mother. |

When leaving Poros bound for Sami you will see a small concrete road on your left signed for the monastery. This Rapidly changes to a dirt road which is navigable by a standard hire car when taken carefully, many people choose to make the journey on foot and a supply of water is recommended. |
