03/06/2004 Sally Stayed at the Metaxatos in Lassi at the begining of May, weather was as to be expected, the rooms were basic but clean. Our holiday was made better by the friendly English barman -Richard, he made our holiday, I found the Greeks this year to be very cold towards visitors, whatever happened to the concept of filoxenia?Try the ELIOS in Argostoli, great family atmosphere, that's what Kefalonia used to be like.If you do stumble acorss the Preview bar at the Metaxatos you'll enjoy Richard's company though be aware of the owners daughter, she hasn't learnt about customer service yet.
14/07/2003 Jen Kirk Car hire: Watch out for some companies who try to to make you leave a deposit and then will make you pay an excess as well if you do have an accident. We went with Perfanis and didn't have to pay a deposit or excess. Also, Don't always think that you need to get a top of the range hire car. We (3 girls) got a dinky 1.3L 5 door (can't remember the make, funny sounding name perhaps a Diatshu??!!) but it was great, fine for the road conditions and hills. Finally, look for the deals, if you hired for 3 or more days with Perfonis, you got a day free, we got a car for 4 days for 125 Euros.
14/07/2003 Jen Kirk I don't recommend the Italian restaurant ...Gondolas on the left as you go up through Lassi towards Argostoli. We had to wait an eternity to order (even drinks), even longer to get our food, and then it wasn't very nice! Most of the food you can get from the more mainstream restaurants, that also have a bit more of an atmosphere.
