I am looking at coming to work in Skala next summer. I LOVE working behind a bar and enjoy working with the different characters i serve. I have a real passion for working in a bar. I would love some guidance in how to go about this. So any help would be great. Also any information about accomodation etc would be helpful. Many Thanks :)

hi sally and babis , have just come upon your website went into it straight away . first of all we are so sad to hear about your mum we talk about herr and the family all the time with our friends .secondly congratulations to you both on having the baby , hope all is well . we moved to wales three n hlf years ago i have retired due to arthitis ect tony still tony full of it we havnt had holiday since we last saw you, but hoping next year . missed not coming over but we live in a beautiful little cottage overlooking the sea . give our regards to your dad and the others . sallys bar is the best in scala you 2 make it that way.love joan and tony .

Hi Smash! hows you? Georges is open this year but I think it may be with a scandinavian company - I've had loads of people emailing me over the past couple of years asking about their usual hotels as they aren't in the brochures and it's because a lot of the hotel owners have gone over to danish and norwegian etc companys. Not sure about Eleni's next door, it doesn't seem to be open. Apparently it getting harder to book up here every year x

Hello Aaron, thank you for enquiring about work for summer 2011, your work experience sounds great and a big bonus for work in Skala. Due to me having a little boy over the winter, we have already got staff to cover my maternity. I must say that times are hard this year in Skala with the economic crisis, people are avoiding taking on lots of staff to avoid pay, and if you do get a job the wages may not be fantastic. The best thing I can suggest is to come here in June and ask around, you may well find that the village has got busier and people decide they need more staff. Make sure you have a flight home that you can pospone or at least have the money available to get home, just in case. I wish you the best of luck, sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Hello, my name is Aaron and I am 19. I am currently studying photography in the south of England. I have been holidaying in the beautiful village of Skala for the past 4 years, this year I want to stay for the entire summer, reliant on the fact that I get a job and a place to stay. I am bar trained and have worked as a waiter for a catering company before so working in a restaurant or a bar is my ideal working environment. My flight is booked for the 26th of June and would be happy to stay as long as I am needed. Hi Steve, there are a few different versions around bit we use vodka, Amaretto and Baileys over ice. Its near enough equal measures, but go easy on the vodka if you don't want it to have too much of a kick!

Hello everyone, sadly mum lost her very brave battle and died in September. Babis flew straight over to England the next day. As a result of this horrible time, neither of us being there and nearing the end of the summer we have decided to shut the bar for this season. All being well we should be back on track and starting afresh next summer. Best wishes to everyone xxx

Just an update to say i'm still in England with mum and dad. Thanks everyone for your various messages and emails of support! Babis is managing the bar this summer with the help of friends, family and new staff-but not knowing much english he has not got to grips with our music and CD's, and some special "not on the menu" cocktails. So if the music is out of date or a bit out of sorts, and the "special" cocktails are not as you remember them, please bear with us as we shall be back to normal as soon as possible! Thanks x

We visited Skala in July and found myself in Sally's bar every night of our holiday. Sally and Babis gave us the warmest welcome we have ever received in any bar either in the u.k or abroad. A nicer couple you could never hope to meet. I have read the only one negative comment with disbelief and the fact that there is only one speaks wonders. A great bar, great service and most of all great people. We shall return!

Hi, i would just like to comment on Ann Daveney's comment, i think i was in Sally's bar when you were there also, to be honest i was telling my husband the kinds of questions you were asking and we couldn't beleive how calmy Sally was answering. Personally if it had been me you would have seen un-friendly. Thats if you are this couple that is. Were you the ones commenting on all english women marrying Greek men and do they treat you ok then and things like that? I'm sorry but if your going to ask personal questions like that your going to get a reaction like that. Sorry if your not that couple but if you are then you deserved more than you actually got!!!

Sally's bar is by far the best bar in Kefalonia! I cannot believe the comment made about Sally's 'unfriendliness'! She has to be one the most lovely people you could meet! I have spent many nights in Sally's bar and experienced nothing but enjoyment and a great time in a very welcoming, friendly bar.

I would like to make a point about the comment below on my "unfriendliness". If you are the couple I think you are, then you came into the bar and started asking "so are you one of these english women who's married a greek then?","what is it about you english marrying greeks?" and "do the greek men actually treat you ok then?" - and then came in on another night and asked if i've not thought of leaving him yet!!! I wouldn't expect a very warm reception if you are going to ask these sort of intrusive questions!! Especially from someone who's with "a greek".I found your questions nosey, rude and quite frankly, strange.A big hello and thank you to all our customers and friends who've written lovely comments on here, see you all in the summer!

Can't believe what I've just read - we've been going to Sally's bar for many many years and know Sally and Babis very well - they are a delightful couple and we've always found Sally most charming and accommodating and exceedingly friendly and do you really expect free drinks? You also think you know Sally well enough to call her a domineering woman - you don't know what you're talking about!!!

I agree with the comment below, my family and I have been to Skala and Sally's bar many times and always found them hospitable and friendly. All the comments on here and other sites are good comments, have you ever thought it might be YOU?As for not minding taking your money, were you expecting to drink for free? People in Skala are running businesses, not charities.

Well obviously the previous comments were made by someone who doesn't know Sally very well - there are very many sites for Sally's Bar and this is the first one I've found being abusive towards Sally - she's a lovely girl with time for everyone so could it possibly be that you did something to upset her? Don't be so rude. And as far as domineering is concerned, did you ASK her future husband, or did you just draw your own misinformed conclusions?

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from Skala and Sally's bar was certainly the best bar in the town. Her and Babis were lovely people. Our apartment was up the top of the hill and he didnt hesitate to give us a lift home after we had loaded ourselves with Cocktails in their bar.
